Charles Harris's
wife was baptised Emma Stevens 7th April 1833 at St John the Evangelist
Lambeth. She was the daughter of John and Ann Stevens, an Ironmonger of
Charlotte Terrace, New Cut, Lambeth.
The 1841
directory listing below (left) Shows the Stevens living at 47 Charlotte
Terrace. By 1851 the family had moved to 42 Gibson Street Lambeth and
John Stevens occupation had changed from Ironmonger to Engraver.

Below is the
1851 census edited to show 42 Gibson Street. The Stevens family comprised
of John aged 49. his wife Ann aged 46, and their 3 children John aged
23, Emma aged 17, and Sidney aged 11.
In 1858 Emma Stevens married charles Harris. Emma's younger brother Sidney
married in 1859. A copy of the marriage certificate is included at the
foot of the page. The witnesses shown are Charles and Emma Harris.
